Every JJ Monaghan design begins in my office. Our watches are inspired by a variety of things I'm interested in at that time. Then, to ensure consistent quality and tight tolerances, our watches are produced at a specialised facility overseas. The result is a perfect marriage of Scottish creativity and reliable watchmaking expertise.
In future as we grow, our main goal is to become a fully in-house operation.
2. Design Freedom Unleashed
While large houses guard trademark elements, independent brands like JJ Monaghan have room to experiment. I love combining Scottish roots with pop culture.
3. Tartan Straps from Our Workshop
One thing we do keep firmly in-house is our straps. We source genuine Scottish tartan from Scottish woollen mills and hand cut, hand glue and hand stitch every strap in our workshop. It’s the perfect way to carry a piece of Scotland on your wrist, even if the watch head was finalized elsewhere.

Capping our collection releases isn’t a marketing gimmick—it’s our promise of exclusivity and quality. We personally inspect every watch before it ships, ensuring it meets our standards.

I believe in honest business. You won’t find vague “Swiss-made” claims here, but you will find clarity: designed in Scotland, produced under stringent conditions, and assembled to exacting tolerances. Every customer knows exactly what they’re getting.
